At CIA he was responsible for the development of the agencies response analysis tools, and the then emerging medium of direct response television. Andy was appointed to the Board of CIA Direct in 1992 but chose to leave in 1995 to set up, along with two colleagues, the start up direct response media planning and buying agency All Response Media, where he is managing director. He was one of the original ‘gorillas with calculators’ generation and developed abilities in planning and buying across a wide variety of above the line media accounts. After 12 months he became an original member of TMD Direct, where his fondness for all things accountable was born. After spending an apprenticeship with some seasoned big agency veterans at The Media Works and cutting his teeth in the fledgling direct response world, he moved into the big league at The Media Business (now Mediacom). Here he worked on the grandfather of response business, Direct Line insurance, and helped launch all the spin off financial services products as well as gaining exposure to several other big name brands. With a true through-the-line grounding now gained, he was poached by the expanding Media Planning department at EHS Brann in mid 1997, primarily running the Prudential Banking Business. In his time at EHS Brann, he oversaw the development of many of the agency's biggest clients such as British Gas and MINI.
